It was on 6th
of September,2019, I taught this lesson. It was for class five mathematics on
the topic Area of composite shapes. The
main aim to teach the topic was to make familiar on the topic and how to find
the area by dividing the irregular shapes into familiar shapes. The activities
were divided in to three parts like class discussion, class presentation and a
video lesson. In the first activity the children were asked to
estimate the area of their geometry box followed by class discussion.
The class presentation
was made by explaining the meaning of a composite shapes with the help of a
diagram and later followed by video lesson. They were asked to watch the video
and later carried an activity to find the area of a composite shape by dividing
it into other shapes..
It
was a valuable and informative learning experience for me. Firstly I got lots
of video lesson as per children’s standard. The time allocated for each
activity was sufficient. I actually did not expect to be able to
arrange this as well as I did. Although
video presentation was difficult for few children to understand the language
due to tone of voice and limited vocabularies, they really did enjoy watching
it.
After
watching the video, most of the children started asking lots of question and I
have to explain it further which indicates that they have understood the lesson
well. Incorporating video lesson as a part of an activity is more enjoyable
which in turn helps the children to get engage meaningfully without diverting
their attention and hence forth I have to select the interesting lesson by
adapting to new strategy in teaching and learning.

Very glad to go through your post sir.And it is interesting and feeling proud that many Mathematic lessons are going comfortable with ICT integration.Well planned lesson๐๐๐
ReplyDeleteDear Singye
ReplyDeleteYou have shared us with a beautiful idea of teaching finding of area for composite shape.
I too got great idea from your write-ups. So do keep it up.
Wel - Come for your valuable comments la...
ReplyDeleteDear sir,
ReplyDeleteIt looks like an innovative ways of giving instruction to carry on with the activity.keep it up.
Thank you
Good way of teaching composite shape. I am sure I will also try and implement your idea henceforth. Good work and keep moving.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your how you integrate ICT in mathematics. Its good to learn that we can make our children interest in mathematics by teaching through ICT. Keep growing keep sharing.
ReplyDeleteGood use of ICT tools in your lesson. You got many questions from your children. These indicates that
ReplyDelete1. Maybe they have not understood what you said.
2. Maybe they have understood what you said.
With this point I suggest you to use simple language with less time with students level.
It's a really wonderful way of teaching composite shape through using ICT facilities sir. You had made a good use of ICT tools in your teaching.
ReplyDeleteGood work.
Its my pleasure to go through your lesson where by i came to know that you made your lesson successful with ICT use.Great work, keep going.
ReplyDeleteGood use of IT class in your school.
ReplyDeleteVideo is always an effective ICT application that enriches the lesson. Thus, keep on using in other topics too.
ReplyDeleteNice lesson sir. I got another idea of teaching mathematics using ICT and that too with a varities of activities.
ReplyDeleteVery interesting lesson sir.
ReplyDeleteMathematics is one subject where we can teach everything through ICT but sadly at times the net doesn't work and we fail.
Thank you for sharing.
Very interesting lesson sir. Another idea of teaching on finding area of composite shape in mathematics through ICT. Keep sharing!
ReplyDeleteGoing through your post, i learned some tactics on how to teach composite shape in mathematics. In the same lesson, you have use variety of strategy. I felt it was good idea. Keep exporing further la.
ReplyDeleteGood ideas shared to teach the area of composite shape integrating ict in the classroom.keep it up sir.
ReplyDeleteIntegrating audiovisual in our teaching has very strong impact on our learners provided we select the clips with simple language at par with the students standard. From my point of view the clips should be brief and to the point...otherwise we lose the focus. As per your reflection when children asked lot of questions there are two ways to consider:
ReplyDelete1. Your children might have developed curiosity and wanted to know more on the topic.
2. Other point may be they didn't understand the concept clearly.
Now the doing critical analysis lies in your hand as you were present during the course of the session. Great work.
Video lessons are effective.
ReplyDeleteI am learning as much as your children from the artical you have posted. Thanks for sharing it.
ReplyDeleteICT is very useful tool for teaching and makes teaching realistic. The way you have used ICT in your teaching is relevant and looks students reallly enjoyed the lesson.
ReplyDeleteGreat lesson delivered sir. Your Mathematics lesson on composite shape taught using ICT strategy is really appreciated one.
ReplyDeleteYou have used a variety of strategy in your lesson which is extremely excellent. I felt it was really a good idea and have learned a lot from your lesson.
Keep exploring further and posting further.
Teaching a lesson through video can enhanced children's learning as they can visualize and retain more as compared to lecture method. It was a very interesting lesson and seems children enjoyed a lot. keep exploring more ideas in future too.
